We are looking for a Strategic Product Designer to join our digital team in London.

You will be working closely with stakeholders to bring ideas to life through your creative skills and understanding of what is technically possible. As a Strategic Product Designer, you will be creating radio and audio listening experiences that delight and engage Bauer Media Audio’s consumers across web, mobile applications, voice, and connected devices. Digital is an integral part of our mission to make our listeners’ world sound better and our vision to be a global audio pioneer. Our digital products represent some of Europe’s biggest radio brands, including KISS FM and Absolute Radio in the UK, Mix Megapol, Radio Nova, The Voice, and RadioPlay in the Nordics.

As a Digital Product Designer, you will be working to evangelise innovation through out the business to help Bauer Audio continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible. You will be expected to grow ideas from ideation through to design and work closely with product teams to drive digital innovation across their new product: Rayo (a digital offering to bring all of Bauer’s audio offering under one platform) and beyond.

Our Team

Bauer Media Audio operates a ‘hub and spoke’ model for digital. The central digital team supports our country business units with strategy, insight, innovation, product management, technology, IP distribution and support. Our country teams are responsible for local planning, content, and commercial delivery. As part of a combined community of digital experts, the teams work in partnership to create outstanding services to our users and deliver commercial success.

What you'll do

  • Support with embedding a new culture of innovation, educating the business on digital ways of thinking and running initiatives such as design sprints and hack days and embedding design thinking.
  • Manage the day to day running of the Innovation Challenge. A yearly initiative set up to crowd source ideas across 9 different countries.
  • Take an idea and rapidly turn it into a visual Proof of Concept using a variety of tools to shortcut the need for development resources e.g. sketched concepts, wireframes, user journeys, personas, videos or navigational prototypes.
  • You will be working on ideas/problems that cover a vast range of topics and will manifest in many different visualisations/prototypes. This may include UI Design, sketching skills, video editing. You will need to be adaptable.
  • Design, manage and facilitate activities, from half day workshops to iterative development sprints across our key territories (UK, Portugal, Ireland, Nordics, Poland & Slovakia).
  • Bring cutting edge digital innovations to the attention of the Central Digital Team by keeping abreast of recent developments in the industry.
  • Proactively guerilla test concepts to ensure our audiences are feeding into the design process.
  • Break down problems into component parts and be able to identify key data needed to support your decisions.
  • Succinctly pitch your work to senior stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the dev team to explain ideas and hand over prototypes.
  • Support the team with storytelling whether thats via infographics, videos or any other skills you may have.
  • Create business cases for new ideas & analyse the potential by understanding the size of the opportunity and potential return.
  • Run retrospectives.
  • Set up and manage a community of Innovation champions.
  • In partnership with Bauer Academy (our education hub) run a ‘Train the trainer’ programme matching trained workshop facilitators with business problems.
  • Project Manage the creation of POCs and present the value back to the business.

What you'll bring

  • An understanding of design thinking, and design experience from personas through to sketched concepts.
  • Passionate about innovation, identifying opportunities and bringing them to life.
  • Experience working with technical teams and senior stakeholders to show case vision and design.
  • The ability to spot new opportunities, and the ROI that could be associated with this.
  • An evangelist for innovation culture, who loves to educate others and implement best practice.
  • Is comfortable in facilitating workshops.
  • Confident public speaker and storyteller.
  • Happy producing different types of visualisations from UI, video editing and infographics.
  • Experience assessing the size of an opportunity.
  • Proficient in writing business cases and pitching ideas and concepts.
